"My heart is, and always be yours"
Jane Austen - Sense and Sensibility
The sun shone on the morning of the 14th March, bringing with it the wedding day of Gemma and Mike.
Once again, my second shooter was the very talented Louise, of Buttons Photography in Dorset, so off we travelled to DeVere Highfield Park Wedding Venue in Hook. Set in the heart of the Hampshire countryside, this really is a dream location for a wedding, with a stunning mansion house and far reaching views of the countryside.
We were met by a roomful of beautiful ladies, all getting their hair and make-up done in their matching robes. We were so pleased to hear that the registrar had agreed to hold the wedding ceremony outside, something that Gemma had really been hoping for.
This venue really lends itself to the most beautiful bridal preparation photographs, with a lovely light room for the bride to get ready in. We took full advantage of the ornate staircase to photograph the dresses too!
Much to everyone’s delight, the wedding ceremony went ahead in the grounds of Highfield Park, with the rain holding off until after the happy couple had said their vows. While everyone else mingled and relaxed during the drinks reception, Louise and I took the newlyweds off round the grounds for their couple portraits, giving them the chance for a little time out before heading in for the wedding breakfast.
Let me just say here, that the speeches were hilarious. Mike certainly chose well when it came to his Best Men, I don’t think I have ever seen a room erupt into laughter in quite the same way!
Once the room was cleared for the evening, Gemma and Mike cut their wedding cake, before moving onto their first dance, and with a live band playing it wasn’t long before the dancefloor was packed.
Louise and I had a great day at this wedding; Gemma and Mike, their friends and their families were so welcoming and so much fun that the day just flew by. Congratulations to you both!
Here is the story of their day..
