Groomes Farm Wedding Venue
Well, I don’t even know where to start when it come to describing Groomes as a Farm Wedding Venue. It is simply stunning. From the outdoor ceremony setting overlooking the rolling countryside, to the pretty gardens for your drinks reception, the luxury rooms for your guests to stay in to the endless photo opportunities, it really is a PERFECT wedding venue.
Not only that, the whole philosophy of this family run venue is something that I really love.
After the house became rundown following the death of Pete’s Grandmother, and having stood empty for 25 years, Pete took on the job of renovating. Being a listed building it was real labour of love, which shines through in all the details you see today.
The farm is a carbon neutral site, producing all it’s own electricity, heating and hot water. They also operate a fresh food policy, using only fresh ingredients in all their dishes, many of which come from the grounds of the farm itself or the neighbouring land.
If you are looking for a farm wedding venue is the Hampshire Countryside - look no further!
Bridal Preparations at Groomes
I met Lorraine, her sister, her daughter and a few other friends and family at the wedding venue, to photograph the last hour or so of everyone getting ready.
Before long guests started to arrive and everyone was ready for the main event!
An outdoor wedding ceremony on the farm
Making the most of the fabulous sunshine and amazing views. Lorraine and Mark chose an outdoor ceremony for their wedding. They said their I Do’s in front of all their family and closest friends, not to mention one of the cutest dogs I’ve had the pleasure to meet at any wedding.
A drinks reception in the gardens
Once the ceremony was over and we had a new ‘Mr & Mrs’ we all headed into the pretty gardens for a drink and a chat. I also took the time to have a great catch up with the lovey Sarah and Daniel, whose wedding I had the privilege of photographing a few months previously. I love bumping into previous couples at a subsequent wedding and hearing what they’ve been up to.
Couple portraits around the Farm
I was SO spoiled for choice when it came to couple portraits. Fields, grassy meadows, cool outbuildings, blue skies and haystacks. We had it all! Of course, it was a huge help that Lorraine and Mark were just SO happy! I swear they didn’t stop smiling all day :-)
Dinner and Speeches
The wedding breakfast was served in a pretty marquee in the gardens of Groomes Farm.
With a magician circling the tables there was no end of shocked gasps and laughter from the guests. Not to mention the reactions to the speeches. What a brilliant afternoon.
Into the evening
Now usually, the evening section of a wedding consists of a few more drinks, lots of laughter, the cutting of a cake and some crazy moves on the dancefloor.
This is the only wedding I have EVER been to where there was the added attraction of a trip in a hot air balloon! Yep, you heard me right - a hot air ballon. Did I go up in it? You bet I did.
Thanks so much Lorraine and Mark for choosing me to photograph your big day!!
